My name is Leia Barrow, and I am a voice actress with experience in animation, character, and video games from Georgia, USA, currently based in Massachusetts, USA. I am a writer and storyteller, and I am always looking to help tell stories!
About Leia
She loves voice acting because it's her tool to be a storyteller and connect with others. She's loved anime since childhood, but in 2020, she attributes it to saving part of her life, specifically her passion and personality. She was diagnosed with cancer, and it was the comfort she found in the voice acting that made her laugh and soothed her when she was isolated from friends and family due to the pandemic. Now, she hopes to be able to do the same for someone else one day!Not to mention, she would love to provide representation as a black woman in the field and inspire others. Being a storyteller has been a part of her life since childhood, whether that was reading aloud in the library as a volunteer or putting on makeshift plays for the military children her mom cared for.She was a choir kid, where she learned breathing techniques, and then shifted to being a theater kid. She has 8 years of total theater experience, and is working to pursue a career in voice acting.Additionally, she's served as a North American Guest Liaison at Anime Boston for the last three years, working with guests like Caitlin Glass and Kira Buckland.
To every project she pursues, Leia promises to bring someone who is determined, passionate, and understands the importance of telling a story and its impact on others. She's felt what it's like to be moved by someone's voice acting, whether it was an act of empathy or a burst of inspiration to keep pushing forward in the midst of difficult situations.In her case, her personal experience was being inspired to not give up even when her initial cancer treatment wasn't working. In turn, that inspiration allowed her to be persistent enough to continue her treatment and finish, and even take a chance on being a part of a clinical trial, which, in turn, put her into remission.
